The creative process tends toward one thing leading to another. At least it does in my head. After spending some quality time with my lovelies the other day, I got to thinking about the rest of my somewhat neglected goodies. I set to the task of creating a ribbon card holder that would set nicely on my work table.

Description

The creative process tends toward one thing leading to another. At least it does in my head. After spending some quality time with my lovelies the other day, I got to thinking about the rest of my somewhat neglected goodies. I set to the task of creating a ribbon card holder that would set nicely on my work table.

Instructions

  1. Using heavy chipboard, which I saved from the back of a paper pad, I cut out a few ribbon holders. I cut it out and then traced it on to pre-cut to size chipboard. (I’ve labelled the pattern for you because I can imagine that you’ll save it on to your computer and later have no idea what the heck it is. OK. I labelled it for myself but you might want to know what it is, too.) I cut mine to 3 x 4″ and made eleven of them. I should have made twelve, but hey, I like to be unpredictable. And if I’d made twelve, I wouldn’t have been able to get this shot of the binding: See what I mean?

I used my handy-dandy bind-it-all machine to bind those puppies together. I used the 3/4″ rings. (If you don’t have a bind-it-all, I’m sure you could punch holes and use rings or even use ribbon to tie them all together.) Make sure you bind it before filling it up. It became quite rotund after loading it up and that makes binding impossible. They stand perfectly together and have a nifty little spot for my scissors in the top. I seriously thought about decorating it, but I was too caught up in the process to start over. I think they’d make wonderful gifts for the crafter or how about hosting a swap where everyone fills one up? Lovely and functional. Doesn’t get much better than that. Enjoy.
