Pimp your old chair by giving it new upholstery

Got this old chair and some pale pink velvet from my boyfriends dad. Thought about letting a professional reupholster it, but then decided to do it myself.

Instructions


  1. Step 1 1

    Take an old chair.

  2. Step 2 2

    Remove seat cushion.

  3. Step 3 3

    Flip around...

  4. Step 4 4

    ..and remove old nails

  5. Step 5 5

    and old fabric.

  6. Step 6 6

    Keep the old stuffing (unless you're up to some more work).

  7. Step 7 7

    place seat cushion on the new fabric

  8. Step 8 8

    Cut fabric - the new upholstery should be a bit bigger than the old so allow a couple of extra centimeters

  9. Step 9 9

    Drape the fabric around the seat. Make sure there's excess fabric on all sides and in the corner

  10. Step 10 10

    When hammering the nails the fabric should be tightly draped around the seat to avoid creases.

    Almost finished.

    Cut off excess fabric.

    Almost done.

    Flip around.

    Place on chair.

  16. Step 16 16

    Admire your new chair.
