I found an old first aid box that used to be white, but was now mostly rusty and dirty. I sanded the rust off, spray painted, spray painted some more, cut out a form, and spray painted again through that. Some of the paint on the letters and the picture spread out a bit, making them a bit fuzzy, but it's still better than the way it was before. I think cutting out the pattern on the cardboard was the hardest part of the whole thing.
