just blowing in the wind, or... hit the nail on the head!

This water kettle was from my late hubby, still using him but i can't using him after my move.
I couldn't throw it away, so... i thought i must recyle him in a project.
In my new home to be i will have two big balconies and large glass sliding walls to go there sooo it's nice to hang before them a wind chime.
I saw on the blog of Jam some smart idea's of how you could make one,
(thank you Jam for sharing your recyling ideas!!!)
so my plan for using the kettle was only becoming more real then ever.LOL
I found some cheap cuterly in a shop that would be the sound makers, and was with some strenght to bend in shape.
And of my fave friend i had still a lot of paperclips as well.
thank you Sheila!!!!
so i thought i can use them well for this project. they are all covered up with plasitc layer so it can stand rain and moistery.;-D

You can make this as well , you can use other things on the kettle, i had the idea to use a lot of plastic fake gems but they were all wrapped allready so i had to change the plans.
time is included drying time.!!!!
i love kitschy things so i used a lot of glitter and things i had still not wrapped.
Hope you like it and wil be inspired to make such things your selfs
just be creative and crafty.

time is included drying time.!!!!

  1. Step 1 1

Search for cuterly and a old kettle.

  2. Step 2 2

Devide the bottom with lines to find the points for making the holes you need for the cuterly.
Like you must draw a cross in a circle and then do it again in the same. then it's easy to treak down the points.

  3. Step 3 3

Now you can trasch the same spots on the outside of the bottem.

  4. Step 4 4

first i tried to make the holes in the kettle with a drill but it didn't worked great so i have picked up a hammer and a big sized nail.
because the kettle surface is smood and round of shape you need at first make a bumb with the head of the nail
    watch the picture please.;-D

  5. Step 5 5

    Hit the nail.LOL
Make with the nail and the hammer the holes.

  6. Step 6 6

on this picture can you see that they holes are throught both sides.
This model asked for that solution, mayby with an other you must look for an other place for the holes.

  7. Step 7 7

because i wanted to hang in the middle a spoon as well like a clapper of a bell i have made in the middle of the bottem two holes as well.-D

  8. Step 8 8

    prime the kettle .
I have done this step because i found it hard to see throught the kettle of my partner and not couldn't see him like a object.
but it was after all smart because it was easier to use the paint on the surface .

  9. Step 9 9

Making the several hooks of the cuterly:
    1. Bend the stells of the spoons to the front like you
    will have a hook.
2, this is the only spoon that has a much smaller
hook then the rest, this will hang in the middle of
    the kettle like a clapper;-D
    3. i prefered to bend the steels of the fork
backwards, Because it's less hurtfull to hit the
    forks excidently.

  10. Step 10 10

Now you can glue with the hot glue gun the gems or the flowers or buttons on the hooks of the cuterly.
On the middle clapper one i have add on both sides a flower.

  11. Step 11 11

draw on the kettle with a pencil your design.

  12. Step 12 12

paint the design you have made

  13. Step 13 13

add lines of 3d paint and glitter 3d pens.

  14. Step 14 14

add on the painted shaped glitter and sequins.

  15. Step 15 15

unwrap the paperclips and make of the paperclips hooks that you will hang on te holes at the bottem.
    then close them tightly.

  16. Step 16 16

Thread on the papperhooks two big size beads and bent the rest of the paperclip in a hook.
Do the same with the other paperclip hooks.

  17. Step 17 17

    Pick up more paperclips.
unwrap a tiny bit the papertape and watch the picture .
on the marks you must bend the edges sharp and real fitting the hook of the cuterly.

  18. Step 18 18

Do this 'hook' on the hook of the spoon, then bend the strange last leg to the inside or middle.

  19. Step 19 19

Now take something simular like this beads (you can follow my tute fake mecury mirrowed beads: ).
Or just check my tute list;-XD

  20. Step 20 20

so you will have part a the spoon or fork with the paperclip hook and the bead.

  21. Step 21 21

slide the bead on the paperclip hook.

  22. Step 22 22

Hang the spoonbead hook part on the hook with the beads on the bottem of the kettle.
then close it with the pliers.

  23. Step 23 23

Switch every time a spoon after a fork and so on.

  24. Step 24 24

now the middle spoon underneath the bottom.
Unwrap a paperclip and make of the long leg a sort of small hook.
    Put this inside the hole.
Watch the picture and the drawing.

  25. Step 25 25

on the clapper you must connect a paperclip like the others but.. the longest leg must be running from the top till the spoon and must be free.
    watch the picture pleace.

  26. Step 26 26

slide on the first paperclip hanging on the bottem a mirrowed bead.

  27. Step 27 27

Slide on te spoon paperclip hook with the longest leg ( now bend to the top) a mirrowed bead as well;-D

  28. Step 28 28

pull the longest free leg of the under paperclip hook through the top hanging hook and put him back with the pliers inside the bead .
    And....... youre done!!!!! yeaaaah.;-XD

  29. Step 29 29

Now find a rope a chain and hang it on a nice place and love the sound of your kettle cuterly chime.
    or give it away.
i will hang mine in my new home to be;-D

hope you loved it and wish you much crafting and recyling fun;-D
Thank you very much for stopping by;-D
