Transform your old slippers..
My only "elegant" flip flops are too old and hurt my poor feet, but I have no money to spend in shopping.
So I decided to recycle these flip flops and create a more glamorous pair.
I want make a very comfortable slippers, so I chose the felt as the sole of the slipper (because it's very soft and easy to work) and I carefully worked the strips of fabric: inside the strips I put a strip of "adhesive fabric" and a strip of cotton fabric to make them more resistant and soft and doesn't hurt the foot.
This is my personal choice. Steps 6,7 and 8 are not obligatory :)
Notice: the "adhesive fabric" is a fabric with an adhesive side and you glue it to another fabric with hot iron. It's used by dressmakers to make more rigid and resistant the fabrics but I don't know the technical term in english, so I call it "adhesive fabric". I'm sorry!

You Will Need

Step 1Remove the old strips from the slippers

Step 2If the sole is damaged, repair with the glue and let dry

Step 3On the transparent paper draw the outline of the sole, but a little smaller

Step 4cut the shape on the felt and mark the spots where the strips will be sewn

Step 5spiked a strip on the spot between the two toes of the foot. Measure the length of the strip to be sewn on the sole.

Step 6I made a graphic that explains how I created and organized the stripes.
Inside each strip, I stuck 0.6 inch of adhesive fabric. Then I sewed 1 inch of cotton fabric.I chose to do this because I want resistant stripes but also comfortable for the skin.

Step 7These are the photos.
It's not important that the adhesive strips and the cottono strips are perfect. -
Step 8Here's the graphic and the photo of how the strip should be folded, hiding inside the two strips (adhesive and cotton). The zig zag remain outside.
The folded strip is about 0.6 inch and is sewn next to the zig zag stitching.

Step 9Now that the strip is ready, sew it at the point marked between the two toes.
Measure 8/10 inch and join the two strips with single seam.Sew the strips at all points marked on the shape of felt.

Step 10Glue the felt to the sole of the flip flop and let dry.
