  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Gather your supplies, and put on some Christmas tunes!

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Ok, now place your light bulb into your lonely sock with the screw part facing out. Pull and stretch your sock until the toes spread out to your desired placement.

I pulled mine extra tight to make a star type thing, but you can also leave them loose and make animals out of them if you want.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Mark around where the fabric meets the bottom of the bulb stem. This will be where you cinch your fabric.

Cut off extra fabric about 2 inches from where you made your mark.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

cut holes every half or quarter inch on then line you have drawn. thread ribbon through once and pull like a draw string to make it tight. Bring ribbon around once more on the outside of all the fabric and tie into a bow.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    EXTRA STEP:!!!!
I don't have pictures of this but you can add bells to the end of each of the toes to give it a little holiday jingle.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

    Hang on tree!!! Oooooo Ahhhhhhh

These are great because even though they are glass they are covered in fabric so harder to break. AND even if they do break, all the glass will be inside so no messy clean up. YAY!!!

Great way to recycle and old lightbulb and a stray sock into an unique Christmas ornament!

It does look easy enough for grade schoolers to do too. Another added bonus is that this is a safer option that just a decorated glass bulb because if there is an accident and bulb is broken, it is contained within the sock.
