Quick Scones

Quick scones recipe

Me and my husband have different sleeping patterns - I get up when he’s still asleep, and he goes to bed long after me. Sometimes I get up to find that he baked me scones for breakfast. They’re very quick and easy to make, and so satisfying! Now that I don’t have to be at uni in the morning, I could reciprocate. They take about twenty minutes altogether.

To make scones for 4 people (or 2 hungry and greedy!)

  1. Step 1

First you need to warm up your oven to about 220° C (or 200°C if you have a fan assisted oven). Grease a baking tray with a little butter.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Sieve the flour into a bowl. Cut up butter into smaller pieces, and using your fingers mix it with flour. Add salt and sugar. Whilst stirring, pour milk in - it should not be too dry or too sticky. Add more milk or flour if necessary. You can quickly knead it with your hands to make a ball. Now sprinkle some flour on a flat surface and roll it out to about 1/2 inch (1,5 cm) thick. I cut mine out using a glass - just press it through the dough. Put on a baking tray and bake until golden on the top shelf - it will take about 10-15 minutes.

    Enjoy!
