Bored of pulling out a boring plain colored lighter? Customize your lighter in no less than 15 minutes and be proud of your customized adorable lighter!

I would love to see your versions :D

Crafts

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

First gather your materials and make sure everything is ready. For me, gathering the stuff took around 10 minutes. They were scattered around the house :/ (the lighters each took 5 min!)

  2. Step 2 2

STEP 1 - Peel off the warning label off your lighter(s).

  3. Step 3 3

STEP 2 - (OPTIONAL) Put your lighter next to your printed pattern and make sure the pattern is big enough to wrap the desired amount on your lighter.

I printed out a small pattern on regular paper found off the internet, and I wanted it to wrap around my lighter. That is my decoration - however, you don't have to do this, you can do whatever kind of decoration you like :) whether it be rhinestones, scraps of fabric, name it! its YOUR project!

  4. Step 4 4

Step 3 - Snip Snip Snip!

  5. Step 5 5

Whoops! Forgot I needed Mod Podge, but I couldn't find it, so i whipped up a quick batch of glue/water. It works just fine. For those out there who don't have mod podge, 1/3 water and 2/3 glue or so in a small container will suffice.

  6. Step 6 6

STEP 4 - wrap your cut out pattern around the lighter and make sure it fits. My project, i actually didn't want it to fully wrap around. I wanted a bit of red to show through. This lighter was for my boyfriend and he loves red, so... :)

  7. Step 7 7

STEP 5 - Apply glue/water or mod podge to the lighter.

  8. Step 8 8

STEP 6 - Wrap the pattern around the wet lighter, then apply Mod Podge or water/glue over the paper. Set down and let dry.

Woohoo! You're officially done! Apply more glue/water or mod podge as you think is needed after it dries, and you have yourself a simple lighter that's cute. :)

  9. Step 9 9

The rest of this How To is me showing you my different lighter ideas. Enjoy! I made this lighter for myself. :D

  10. Step 10 10

As seeing this was a complete wrap around, i added a bit of tape to the end onto the lighter so it'd be easier to wrap around evenly. (I took it out right before applying water/glue)

  11. Step 11 11

On the other side, Oh So Lovely! <3

  12. Step 12 12

A lighter for my best friend. He LOVES green & Coheed and Cambria.

  13. Step 13 13

    ...

  14. Step 14 14

Ta-Dah! My three easy, simple, DIY custom lighters!
