Great gift for a crafty/sewy friend. Quick to make.
A very simple project to create a wool felt pincushion. I saw something similar in a quilting boutique for $12.00. I had a failed knitting project that supplied the felted wool in order to make this. I use these all the time and have given several as gifts to friend who like to sew. Easy to make and fun to embelish. This would be a great project for kids, girl scouts, etc.

  • Step 1

You can make a good piece of wool felt from a 100% wool sweater or in my case from a knitting project that I was not happy with. To felt the wool wash it in HOT water with detergent in order to shrink it into felt. You may need to do this several times.
Then cut a strip about 2 inches wide by 10 inches long. Adjust width and length to suit your taste. Once rolled the width will make the height and the length provides diameter.

  • Step 2

Roll the strip tightly in a spiral, like a cinnamon roll, then tie securly with scrap yarn or string.

  • Step 3

Embelish in any way you like to make it pretty or personalized. That's it you're DONE!
