Snow crystals!

If you have any puzzles that are missing pieces, they can be turned into great ornaments!

The possibilities with decorating these puzzlepieces are endless. Just think of them as a scrapbook project. You could cover them with pictures, fabric, yarn, glitter but you can also just paint them or glue things like rhinestones, feather or buttons onto them.

I may be sending these to my friends as christmascards and write a nice sentiment onto it.

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Find a puzzle with a missing piece.

It's really too bad though this was a pretty puzzle :(

  2. Step 2 2

Take 6 pieces of the puzzle shaped like the ones on the picture.

  3. Step 3 3

    This step is optional.

You could paint the pieces beforehand with gouache paint but you can also spraypaint the pieces after you've made the ornament.

(to get the texture as shown in the picture simply don't mix any water with the paint)

  4. Step 4 4

With a compass draw a circle onto a piece of cardstock measuring 1.3cm and cut that circle out.

  5. Step 5 5

Glue one end of the ribbon onto the circle and glue the other end on top of that.

  6. Step 6 6

    Assemble three pieces.

  7. Step 7 7

    Glue them onto the circle.

  8. Step 8 8

Draw lines on where you want the other three pieces to come.

  9. Step 9 9

put some hot glue between those lines and lay the pieces on top.

  10. Step 10 10

    It should look like this.

  11. Step 11 11

Spraypaint your ornament using a sheet of newspaper to cover the ribbon.

Fold the newspaper in half then slide your ornament onto it and fold about half of the page back. Lay flat to dry.

  12. Step 12 12

    Spray paint!

To paint the back simply use masking tape to cover the ribbon.
