i got these plain black shoes very cheap, so i decided to make them a little more personalized. i first applied a coat of white gesso in the shape of the design, painted everything on with acrylics and a brush, then finished up with a thin coat of clear acrylic gloss to waterproof the design, and to hopefully prevent too much fading. easy!!
