Pleats! Pleats, everywhere!
I had a pair of pants that were too short for my daughter. She's a tall one, folks. Like, OFF the growth charts tall at her 18 months check up.
So, I decided to use those pants and add some length to them by a ruffle. When I sat down at the sewing machine, I realized I had yet to try pleated skirts. So, I sat down on my own to figure it out. no tutorial, just a 24 week pregnant woman cursing to herself. I do not recommend it. Just follow a tute, people! ;)
Anyway, I decided it needed a shirt to go with for a full boutique style.
After I finished it, I ended up hiking the skirt up a tiny bit and loved the way it looked. And my darling daughter loved it. She's rather wear skirts and dresses over pants any day! she loves the way she can twirl in them.
So I am now working on tweaking the pattern a bit and making it into a full blown cutsie dress. I am also thinking about making it into a how to if there is any interest. <3
