Apron for Sissy with pleats and ruffels
For alot of my sewing projects, I use scraps of fabric I have collected over time. The only thing I bought for this project was the towel (and it was $1 at Walmart). The lace, tie and ruffle both came from curtains I picked up at a random yard sale.

Step 1
Mark center of towel and begin pleats. Choose any size pleats you want, but keep in mind: pleats will shorten the towel. This will be the "skirt" portion of the apron.
Step 2
After pleats are sewn, iron to set.
Step 3
For the top half of the apron, measure from collar bone to waist for the length. The width must match that of the apron (after pleats). This has 1 layer of red fabric and 1 layer of lace.
Pin layers right sides together and sew around the sides and top, leave the bottom open.
Turn right side out and iron seams.
Step 4
Sew the top to the skirt of the apron.
Step 5
(The ruffel came from the bottom of a curtain.)
Sew ruffel to apron at the same seam made from the top and skirt.
Fold edges of ruffel around the towel and sew.
Step 6
(Ties are made from the top of the curtain where it hangs on the rod.)
Sew ties to both sides of the apron at waist level. This should always be where the top and the skirt meet.
Step 7
Stitch neck piece to the corners of the top piece. These need to be reinforced stitches, as this area can take alot of damage when apron is taken on and off.
For this I used a strip of a t-shirt that was stretched so it rolled up.
