  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First...get your containers ready, I used 3 5 gram jars. Get out your pixie sticks and pick a flavor you want. I picked cherry!

  2. Step 2

Then, find a cup or container and spoon you don't care about getting ruined..for me I picked a plastic cup, 'cuz I have tons of them. Sorry I don't have a picture for this step :-P I don't want you to see my ugly cup! hee hee!

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Now, if you are using the same spoon, measure out your pixie stix you don't really need a spoon, I used 2 stix, but really, I could have used just one stick and been just fine. Since mine is very sugary and powdery. Make sure you have it open, 'cuz you won't want to mess with opening it after you heat up the vaseline.

  4. Step 4

Measure 2 spoons of vaseline, it's really diffcult to do this part, because vaseline has it's own shape, just use your best judgement as to how much you really want.

  5. Step 5

Put it in the microwave...I did it for about 3-4 minutes, stopping it every 45 seconds to stir it. I was inpatient and wanted it done! I did not let it melt to liquid, if you choose to make it liquid, that is up to you, just keep it in the microwave longer.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Now mix your vaseline and pixie powder!! Hee hee! Put it in your containers..it won't go in level..so don't be frustrated...once you let it set, you can level it off.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Let it set..it won't go hard completely, but having it soft, means it'll be shiny. Then put your lids on..and you've got yourself PIXIE BAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLM!!!! TADAAAAAAA!!

are pixie sticks like sherbet?

KT

No, they're like flavored sugar. So, that's why you don't need a lot. Because it will give it a sugary texture. It comes in different flavors like cherry or orange. And has a sugary texture...basically..you're eating sugar as candy.

You could possibly dissolve the pixie sticks if you heated the vaseline to liquid...don't put the pixie sticks in the microwave with the vaseline though, sugar burns.

Subsituting kool aid powder would work, there is a recipe for the kool aid one on this website. And I got the containers on e-bay.

You can get those containers at almost any grocery store. They are mostly marked as small pill containers but they work for this project if you want to try that. I found them in the 99 cent part that normally has the small trial size stuff. Hope that helps.

Thank you to everyone who left comments while I was away!! I left my pixie stick lip balm in my car one day on a hot summer day...and it melted to perfection! So, ever feel like not going through the effort, just stick the jar outside in the middle of summer! As for fun dip, that totally sounds like an awesome idea!!
