Time
2h00

inspired by 'The Wall' album cover.
Here's an ashtray i made for my best friend, who's a big floyd fan. Its made of air drying clay. The 2 hour time span includes only the sculpting (it's a little tricky the first time around). I painted it once it dried. But since i dont have a very steady hand, i printed out the words in a 'floydian script' i downloaded, and sort of decoupaged it on.
I realised once i was done that i forgot to make a ridge to rest the cigarette in.

@joanna- i havent needed to wash it. im sure a wet cloth would work fine though.
@heather- i just cut out the letters and glued them on. i put just a tad of watered down white glue around the edges, and then painted a couple layers of varnish on the whole thing.
about the sculpting- for each wall, i cut a rectangle out of clay. (this is the actual base) and i then attached smaller curved edge rectangles as bricks.
glad you're thinking of making one Happy

This is great. I've seen some of these at stores but I've never wanted to shell out the money for them. Not quite sure why I hadn't thought of making one myself.

How did you decoupage the words on, that part kinda of confused me since I can't see any lines or seams or anything.

And also I was wondering if you sculpted it brick by brick or craved the brick shapes into more of a solid brick shape.

@joanna - Lol, You're supposed to wash ashtrays?! I only wash my fancier glass ones.
