How to make a nice petticoat for your lolita dresses and skirts
I bought my tulle for $5 all together, which is pretty cheap, and it has held up very well. You may want a different material as tulle is a bit itchy!

As always my time is a guestimation.

This is "my way" of making a petticoat.

I hope this is helpful!

  • How to make an underskirt. Petticoat - Step 1
    Step 1

This is the basic pattern dimensions. Of course the length and amount of pieces is entirely up to you. This is what worked for me!

Go ahead and cut the fabric to match this.

  • Step 2

Gather your bottom(wider) layer, and sew it to the bottom of your top one.

  • Step 3

Repeat the last step on your second piece.

  • Step 4

Make a waistband(I made mine out of scrap material) to fit onto the top of the pieces with no gathering!

  • Step 5

Sew both of your pieces to the waistband.

  • Step 6

Cut elastic at the same length as your waist(or wherever you want it to sit), and pull through the waistband.

  • Step 7

Sew up the side, and you're done!!

I think sewing a third layer of soft fabric under the two tulle layers would help with itching. I like the idea. Will have to try Happy
