Instructions

  1. Small 113800 2f2016 03 28 122512 photo1

Fold each piece of fabric in half with selvedges together and face out. Using your rotary cutter, ruler and mat, cut your fabric into 7" squares. Having the fabric folded lets you cut 2 squares at once into pairs. Keep these pairs together for Step 2.

Sew each pair of squares together diagonally with right sides out, making an X.

  3. Once you have all your squares sewn together, you can choose the pattern of the quilt. It will be 5 squares wide and 7 squares long. We numbered our fabrics 1,2,3 and did the following pattern: 12312 23123 31231 12312 23123 31231 12312

Once your pattern is picked, sew the squares into rows using a 1/2" seam allowance.

  5. When your 7 rows are completed, sew them together. Use a 1/2" seam allowance, and have all the seam allowances facing up.

Now that your quilt is all put together, sew a 1/2" seam allowance around the entire outside edge. For extra durability, sew it again on top of your first row of stitching.

Using your scissors, snip all seam allowances and the outside edge approximately 1/4" to 3/8" apart. Having spring-action scissors for this step is highly recommended. Be careful not to snip any of your stitching.

After a run through the washer and dryer, your quilt is ready to go!
