Description

My 1st tutorial so don't roll your eyes at the obvious info! (tsk tsk) :) Of course you can also just use plain pencils instead of colored pencils of course Maybe use an oversized eraser for the bottom? hehe

Instructions

  1. Small img 8070 1302491814

get your materials! -old colored pencils -the sharpest knife you can find -hot glue gun (remember extra glue sticks) (:

  2. Small img 8072 1302492002

Group together your colored pencils. This is a small pencil cup so I used 5 colored pencils for each side. It doesn't really matter if you use round colored pencils or the ones that have flat sides. Try to use your longest pencils for the sides.

  3. Small img 8080 1302492174

Put a line of hot glue along one pencil and squish the second pencil to it. Remember to line up the bottoms of the pencils(: Continue glueing all your pencils together until you have four flat planels of colored pencils.

  4. Small img 8084 1302492417

Glue two of the panels together at the side. Then glue on the 3rd panel. Finally glue on the last panel and you're almost done! see, that was easy :)

  5. Small img 8086 1302492535

Flip your almost-done pencil cup so your looking at the bottom. Measure a colored pencil and mark where you need to cut. Take your super sharp knife and start cutting around the pencil on your mark. Even with my sharpest knife I couldn't go through the lead, but after I cut through the wood I easily broke the lead with my hands and then tidied things up with my knife.(: Cut as many pencils as you need to covfer the bottom. For my 5x5 pencil cup, I only needed these small four pieces. (You'll probably need more)

  6. Small img 8089 1302493045

Put glue on each end of the cut piece and stick on the bottom of your pencil cup.

  7. Small img 8090 1302493121

Continue till you finish gluing the whole bottom!

  8. Small img 8092 1302493174

To cover the bottom cracks, I covered the whole bottom in hot glue but that's optional. I'm just a little bit picky >.< X)

  9. YAY! you're done! :D enjoy containing pencils inside your pencil cup(: there may be some glue showing between the pencils but i like the the "crafty" feel ;) If your sort of a neater person, you can easily clean up the sides by scraping off the glue or even adding hot glue between the cracks to make it look more "PURPOSEFUL" ;D
