You'll need a pair of old jeans, or a pair of old shorts. Scissors. Chalk (optional)

(Optional) Mark about an inch or two off your desired length.

Cut on your mark.

(Optional) If your pockets aren't long enough, take about some of the seams.

Cuff them up.
(Optional) Cuff the shorts until the pockets are revealed.
