I really wanted a nice a colorful match to my custom made crochet hooks that I purchased from theFancifulFeline on Etsy
so I decided to make my own (with inspiration from JellyandCustard).

This was my first time making/sewing patchwork. It was really easy. I had my children sort and piece pairs of fabric that I had cut into 2" x 2" squares (this way I wouldn't be tempted to make perfect combinations) as I sewed them together. Then I followed JellyandCustard's instructions on the assembly.
