A very fun project for all ages! You can turn it into a pinata or just a decoration.
TO MAKE SMALL HOT AIR BALLOONS. GREAT FOR PARTY FAVORS (instead of typical) GOODY BAGS. OR FOR A FASTER, EASIER PROJECT FOR YOUNGER KIDS. Use water balloons & sm yogurt cups or shaving cream covers (baskets)instead.

PAPIER MACHE PASTE-
Combine 1/2 cup flour &
2 cups cold water. Add that to a saucepan of 2 cups boiling water & bring to a boil. Remove from heat & stir in 3 TBS sugar.
LET COOL.
This was my 1st ever papier mache creation. It was so much fun. I want to papier mache everything!!!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Place balloon in bowl for stability. Drag a strip of newspaper through paste & wipe off excess. Cover balloon (leave a sm opening on top for pinata)
    LET DRY 24 HOURS.
COVER the paste so it doesn't dry out.

  2. Step 2

For the hanger I hot glued a hook on the top days later. Or you can wrap string around it & pulling the ends up to the top & tape it in a few places.
FOR THE HOT AIR BALLOON NECK-
I hot glued a cut sour cream container. You can glue or tape instead & use whatever size container that works for you.

  3. Step 3

Cut out a basket from another plastic container. Or if you can make the neck & basket from one go for it.
Cover the balloon & sour cream containers w newspaper & (pm)paste.

    Allow to dry.

  4. Step 4

Paint or add crepe paper or tissue paper to decorate.

    WHEN DRY-
Punch holes into the "neck" & "basket".
Attach basket to neck with string (or yarn, ribbon).

    NOTE-
IF YOU ARE MAKING THIS INTO A PINATA MAKE SURE THE INSIDE IS DRY BEFORE ADDING CANDY.
