  • How to make a paper necklace. Paper Rose Necklace - Step 1
    Step 1

Start of by cutting individual petals out of your chosen book.

per flower you will need about 5 different sizes and 5 of each petal size.

Then roll the top of each petal so the look more realistic

    Step 2

For the centre of the flowers i used wooden skewers (for the smaller flowers I used 1 and for the larger I used 3)

Then take one of your smallest petals with the rolled edge on the outside and glue it round the skewer(s)

Note: you will need to cut the skewers so if you don't have a saw then probably better only using one of easier to cut with scissors

    Step 3

Follow this round in a circle until you have built up your flower, moving up petal sizes, until you reach the desire flower size.

Remember petals get glued on rolled side out and slightly pinched at the bottom

    Step 4

Take your bunch of flowers and cut of the ends of the stems so they are flat against the flower.

    Step 5

I used buttons as the back to my necklace so it would keep it's shape and weigh it down but you could use felt or something similar instead

I lay out my large buttons so that I could see roughly how many I would need and the shape I wanted for the necklace

Then I took a few of them, gluing them around my first flower

    Step 7

Add more buttons following the pattern you laid out and build in bunches of the leaves as you go

Note: I picked up some cheap plastic flowers and took the leaves on them

    Step 8

once you are finished gluing all the flowers, you should have something that looks like this

    Step 9

Flip your flowers over and position the wire on the bottom of the buttons, gluing it round the edge. I left a longer piece of wire on one side so that the flowers could sit to the side when worn as a necklace

Then taking two pieces of ribbon, tie them to the end buttons on both sides of your flowers

    Step 10

glue the ribbon up the wire and then wrap round the ends of the wire and glue in place so the wire doesn't dig into you

    And there you have it!

This piece can either be worn as a necklace or as a dress topper, like I have here.

I also took a left over flower and leaves and glued them to a clasp to make a matching hair piece!
