Painted Stars On Old Shirt

  • Completed Project: Painted Stars On Old Shirt Picture #1

Painted stars on an old shirt

I was going to give this shirt to good will and i'm glad i changed my mind. I bought some contact paper at walmart (the cupboard liner kind) for $5, everything else i already had. i used watered down acrylic paint. just drew the design on the contact paper and cut it out. i cant wait to make more. : D

I love stars!

I've never worked with contact paper. Is it easy to deal with?

it was pretty easy. just have to be careful it doesnt stick to itself and i was able to use the same stencil twice on this shirt. and also if you don't press hard enough you won't get clean edges since the other side is like flimsy plastic.

i liked using it because i could rub the paint off and see that it wasnt bleeding under the contact paper. the first star i did i messed up bad because i didnt blot the paint brush :[ but i was able to fix it

Wow! I love the design! I've always wondered if you could use acrylics on fabric - does it wash well?

i havent washed it yet but i'm sure it does. i dilluted mine with water so it would be so stiff. they actually make something that your supposed to dillute it with for painting on clothing but i forgot what its called :)
