Plain brown runner rug from Wal-Mart ($13.00)

Use blue painters tape to mark off design of your choice. We did a lattice work design, but didn't use exact measurements for line spacing.

Spray entire rug with Black Upholstery Fabric Paint. We used one coat of the paint.

After spraying, wipe the tape down with a paper towel to remove paint and avoid dripping on the rug when you take off the tape.

Finished rug!! We love the clean lines. The black paint color created a nice mocha color contrast to the light brown of the original rug.
