I used one of the sleeves, flattened out, for the back of the waistband, to make it wide enough to cover my behind. The front of the waistband was a rectangle cut from the other sleeve.
Th fabric was stretchy enough that I didn't need to add a waistband.

On your last sentence, do you mean you didn't need to add a drawstring? Or that you didn't NEED a waistband but you added one anyways?
