A quick and easy way to add some color to simple bud vases.

I had a lot of vintage bud vases left over from our wedding decorations, so I came up with this simple way to make them the perfect decoration tailored to any season or holiday.

Crafts

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Get together what you'll need. You need your bud vase, embroidery floss in graduated colors, scissors, and white craft glue.

  2. Step 2 2

Cut your pieces of floss in each color. I made each piece roughy the same length for even layers of color. Uneven layers would look good, too.

  3. Step 3 3

Tie your strings together in order (light, medium, dark, medium, light, etc.). I used triple knots tied really tight so they don't slip when you're wrapping your vase. I also trimmed the excess knot ends closely.

  4. Step 4 4

Start wrapping. Once you have a bit wrapped that will hold itself in place, add a dab of glue to the beginning and rub around to hold the first few wraps together.

  5. Step 5 5

Finish wrapping your string and glue the end in place.
