I was doing some earrings one night when there was a lunar eclipse.
When I took a look at my pearls and beads I had just recieved that day and saw those moons and stars, suddenly this necklace came into my mind.
I am not a good jewelry designer or some kind of professional, but I love jewelry and I started making my own about a year ago... And this is one of my favorite pieces.
I made it about 40cm long. Most of it are white freshwater pearls with about 5 mm diameter. I added my moon and star shaped pearls (which are also cultured freshwater pearls, I just had to buy them when I saw them!) and separated them from the rest by putting some small silver beads in between.
First I wanted to make a symmetric pattern, but that looked too tidy, so I made it asymmetric.
I had this nice clasp, sterling silver with cubic zirkonia which I got quite cheaply at ebay. I had never known what to do with it, but I thought it was just perfect for this kind of necklace. I attached it in a way to wear in the front.
Since I love wearing matching earrings to a necklace, I also made these simple hook earrings, which are just 2 hooks, 4 pearls, 4 headpins and bit of silver chain.
Most people just don't believe that this is DIY - but it is quite simple...
The picture was taken on a white sheet of paper and it was only enhanced a very little bit (making the white background really white, that's all)
