I have had these little round mirrors forever and always wanted to make something like this with them. Now, that I done broke out my clay, I figured I do it now. I wanted to make a piece a little bit more elaborate, but this is a trial and error type thing, so the next one will be better.

As usual, crumble your clay with as many colors as you want to use. This is actually red and silver.

Mix clay together, roll out and cut a circle. The mirror I used is about an inch in diameter, so make your circle big enough to add decor.
These steps for my clay projects are not an exact science. Just use as much or as little to your liking. -
Press mirror into center deep enough to almost cover the sides. The edges will rise, DO NOT press it back down. Use an object that the same size of the plastic gems that you will be using, to make a setting them.

Do this all the way around with them spaced evenly. To do this, Start top then bottom, side to side then diagonal.

Roll out small rope of clay and place around edges of mirror. Use a small tool to make indentions to basically attach to the base clay. Add round jewelry pin as well. Bake according to manufacturer's instructions.

Carefully coat the piece with protective finish, making sure not to get any on the mirror. You can either add the plastic gems before it dries, or with glue after.
BTW, you can also make a pin out of this instead adding the jewelry pin and bail, attach a pin on the back. I usually use hot glue for that, it works best for me instead using some other type of adhesive.
