James’s Mini Quilt
 <  Image 1 of 3  >

Made for my cousin’s baby James, I am quite proud of it as it is my first ever completed quilt. James was going to have to have a liver transplant at only 9 months old so I wanted his parents to know that I was thinking of them all. It is now months later and he is still doing well post-transplant.

I found some yummy patchwork fabric that I used as the ground/hill (I didn’t do this patchwork which I suppose is cheating but I just loved the material).

His initials are the first ever chain stitch I have done and time constraints meant that I didn’t have time to buy embroidery thread or re-do the stitches. Hopefully it looks ok enough to not be too embarrassing.

The tree and design was initially inspired by the Two Trees and a Mini Quilt design in British Patchwork and Quilting (like Mini Quilt 2).

This was my first try at appliqué.
