Marzipan

  • Completed Project: Marzipan Picture #1

Marizpan for all you shaping needs:D

Alright, so everyone knows i got a job as a cake decorator, and i love, but i know alot of us dont have the money/time to do cake decorating lessons, So i'm sharing what i know with you. This is Marzipan, for those of you who don't know it's an almond molding clay that is used with cakes, on its own, and with chocolates. Most common around Christmas time with yule logs (Mushrooms shaped peices, or pine cones with marzipan bases and than peices of almonds sticking out and than dripped in dark chocolate) sharping it into fruits is also common. But have fun with it, it's only your imagination that difines what you can do with it!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Put Icing sugar and ground almonds (if you have a coffee grinder, get them smoother, i don't so i cant :( but its not a big deal. You just get a slightly grainy Marizpan with regular ground almonds from the store) Shift them together, or if you dont have something to shift them together, us a fork or a wisk and work it for ten mintues to make sure you didnt miss any lumps.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

in a sperate bowl mix together all the other ingeditants, beat until the egg yokes mix well with the other ingeditants. I use Vodka instead of Sweet Sherry, cause sherry makes me sick.

Place the wet ingerditants into the middle of a well in the bowl. Mix well. And knead. If it's to dry, add water at a tablespoon at a time.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Wrap immeditaly, or use imedditaly keeping all marzipan not in use covered with clingwrap. Put any not used in a cool (not the fridge) dry place. :D Enjoy:D
