mario blocks for baby
 <  Image 1 of 9  >

My cousin had a baby recently, these are the blocks I made for him. His initials are SMD, Sage Michael. They are really simple to make.

  1. Step 1

The blocks can either be a solid color or multi-colored like we made them. They can be big or small so it's up to you in this step.

Knit 6 squares for each block.

Either stockinette or garter, I did a mixture of both.

  2. Step 2

It's a little easier to iron the shapes on before you sew the pieces, so if you are going to add shapes or letters,

Print, then iron your shapes or letters on to the outside of your block squares.

We used the dark colors transfers, the colors come out brighter on them and you don't have to worry about printing backwards.

  3. Step 3

This step is completely up to you. I didn't like the way the iron-ons were a bit frayed and didn't want baby to eat them so we traced the edges of the shapes with a bit of fabric paint.

  4. Step 4

Sew your squares together, leaving an open edge for stuffing.

  5. Step 5

Stuff then sew last edge together.

  6. Step 6

Give to baby to enjoy! Quick and easy, and kind of fun to make.
