New Orleans in your office or home!

We used these to decorate our office. You can make a million variations to make them into triangles or even combine a few of them to make one big feathery decoration! They're really easy, don't take a lot of time, and really cheap. You can get the feathers for $2 a bag at Michael's and the beads at the dollar store. I hope you enjoy them!

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THE GLUE GUN. I cannot stress this enough. My left index finger is purple right now. Please be careful!

Also remember: Mardi Gras is all about whimsical festivities. The feathers don't have to be prim and proper! The more bendy, curvy, and wild they are, the more natural they will feel.

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Cut out a small, roundish piece of cardboard.

  2. Step 2 2

CAREFULLY apply hot glue to individual feathers and press on. Have rhyme and rhythm where you press your first layer of feathers- just try to evenly spread them.

  3. Step 3 3

Add a second layer with a different color.

  4. Step 4 4

Add the third layer. You may notice that the feathers on the inside may look kind of goopy. That's what the next step couple of steps are for.

  5. Step 5 5

These are the card beads I used. I got them at the dollar store. It was a necklace, but I cut it up so I could use it on these. You can also use regular cards, other beads, coins, gems, or anything you think of!

  6. Step 6 6

    Glue it on! Ta dah!

    Happy Mardi Gras!
