Instructions

  1. Small 14451

Part 1 first before you actually get your material out, we will be making the actual pattern. all right! we are going to disect the hat. well not really but your hat is made up of three parts. -top, -brim, -side.

  2. Small 14453

part 2 now we're going to start with the top. the one we're doing is going to be round (not ovale). so lets get out our paper or cardbord. and figure out how big you want your top to be. now this is how M. Grey does it, she draws her circle on her paper, then goes to the mirror. plays around with it. sees if she likes it or not then goes back resizes it then goes to the mirror, blah blah blah your get the picture. wake me up when you've found the right size....

  3. Small 14454

part 3 right, found it? good.. now wee do a little bite of math! yay! math time. do the math dance! dun nuh nuh nuh duduh! what we're about to do is make the top of the hat and the the messurments for the side of the hat. what we want is the circumference of your circle (the lenght of the actaully circle). so M's radiuse of her circle is 9.3 cm so we're going to use that number. the radius is the length from the center of the circle to the outside. as shown by the picture. now the damiter is the length from one side of the circle to the other going through the middle.

  4. Small 14455

part 4 so basicly just times your radiuse by two and you'll have the diamater. this is very important for finding out how long you need your side piece to be. so a trick to finding the the radius is to fold the cirlce into quarters. then mesure one of the langths to the tip.

  5. Small 14458

part 5 so if M's radius is 9.3 then her diamater is 18.6 (9.3x 2) we then times this number by pie. if you dont know pie or dont have a pie button on your caculator it works out be this. (yes its actual mathimatical name is pie...i like pie....) pie=3.1415926535897... Cercumfrance= Diamater x 3.1415926535897 now M's comes out to being 58.433623... so we're going to round it out to 58.4cm you dont have to be exact with this.

  6. Small 14459

Part 6 leave this because we're blowing this popsicle stand and moving on to the brim. this is one of the harder parts. pin your cirlce on the edge of the paper M uses two pices for this. now trace around the circle. now do you remeber you radius number? well you should. times that by 26.88% so if M's was 9.3 she's going to times it by .2688 radius x 26.88% = number. 9.3x.2688=2.5

  7. Small 14464

the final number is how much your going to go into the circle. blue is the origional circle and gray is the brim. now we just figure out how wide you want your brim to be! (M,s all ready done that step)

  8. Small 14465

Part 7 M's a stickler for perfection in her creations. what a bore! so what she does is, she cuts out two brim pices. then cuts one in half and taps the halfs to the frist one makeing something like this. now we need that magic number we work so hard for! the cerfumfrance! yay!! this means we're almost finished!!

  9. Small 14468

Part 8 so you have how big you want your hat to be, but how tall? go, figure this out now. go on. why are you still here? want an example? M takes a pice of paper,(wow that girl really loves her paper) goes to the mirror, and play's around with it. once you've found your perfict size come back to see me!!

  10. Small 14469

Part 9 found it? good. messure how high it is. now you might have to tap a couple pice's of paper together. the cerfumfrance number is how long its going to be. and the number you just messure, well its how high its going to be. remeber M's? well this is what hers looked like.

  11. Small 14470

Part 10 Mr. Buns: wow, we're done with this part BUT HOLD ON A SECOND!!! before you go, do not cut out your material!!!! we need to add the seam allowances. that will be in the next part. for now tuck this away in an envalop or a plastic bag. M Gray: i was going to inist that he do them in this part, but he's tired, i'm tired, and i have to go to the bank. Mr. Buns: !! THEY DONT CARE IF YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE BANK!! M Gray: maybe, but i can at least think that some one cares out there.... cause you sure dont! Mr Buns: of corse i dont. i leave the careing to Master STrange M Gray: what does STrange have to do with this? Mr. Buns:.... M Gray: what? Mr. Buns: ..... M Gray: he's behind me isnt he. Mr. STrange: are'nt i always? p.s; the name mr. buns came from a ruby gloom charactres. i just really like the name. and the character!!!
