ps. one of the pictures shows my dog who passed away just last year. she was only 5 years old. her name 'mazsi' means 'rainsin' in english, because she was so small, yet full of life. she used to be able to jump like a meter high in to the air if she smelled food.

find a nice animal who is willing to be the subject of your photo-shoot. is it a dog, a neighbor's cat, maybe a cute little frog in your garden?
found your subject? good.
now you need to see which angle it looks best from. from the top, maybe from the side? maybe you'll have to kneel or lay down to get the best view of something. with animals this step is very important. a dog may look best if you are in an eye-view of it, but a butterfly may be prettiest if you can see its wings.
on an animal the eyes are very important. they show so much emotion. they are like a window to their soul. make sure that the picture reflects that. you wouldn't want to dress a wild-eyed dog into a pink dress. it just wouldn't look right (and not even because of the dress); the eyes and dress would show different emotions and they would clash.
decide how big you want the picture to be. should it include the legs of the dog or only the head?
remember: if you can't zoom in enough just make sure to get the area you like sharp. you can always cut it out of the original.
make sure your picture is balanced. you wouldn't want your animal on one side of the picture and nothingness on the other.
set the mood!
play around with the colors.
if the dog is brown, find a nice, contrasting, yet fitting color for the background. make sure the colors aren't overwhelming. they have to be fitting for each other to make your picture look nice.
get snapping! take as many pictures as you can from as many angles as possible. remember, you can sort through it later!
with animals you might need to do this very fast, because most of the time they won't stay in one place. good luck with getting them sharp! :]
when sorting, don't throw away pictures that are bigger than you intended them to be. see if you can cut out certain areas. a blurry cat may turn into a sharp, beautiful eye.
