A long awaited tutorial on how to make a Mayle Star. I am using a large centre ring to give a better view. I use mayle since its the most commonly used word for "chainmaille" before the victorians got their way with the word)
1
3 different link sizes. 1 centre ring (can be any size)
2
See how many links fit around the central ring
3
Make sure the smallest ring doesnt quite fit through the surround links otherwise it wont work.
4
Join the surround rings with 1 of the small link and then start to connect each of them to the centre ring with 2 of the small links in the pic (med-sm-med-sm-med etc)
5
link the centre ring with 2 sm links on each surround ring
6
add a further 2 sml link into each of the mediul surround rings
7
add a medium ring into the 4 connecting links ensuring that the med is inbetween 2 surround rings (sort of overlap) Do so right round the piece then flip the mayle over
8
do the same on the other side.
closer view.
