A henley is great, but I've been steering away from fitted tops lately.
The elements of this project is the shorten the shirt in a wide ) shape. Also, cut off the sleeves, cut up the sides, and remove and alter the neckline. Then, use a serger or sewing machine to add strips of lace to the sides that are 4 inches wide. Handsew the neckline, armpits, and bottom using an invisible stitch so it maintains it's stretchiness, and use the original collar fabric, cut it in half, and attach it as straps.
