I want to be a buzzy buzzy bee...
If you haven't read my thread on the forums, I made this for my boyfriend for his birthday. He kept begging me to make him a bee jumper so I thought I'd do this to keep him happy haha, and to carry his laptop to and from uni.
I had to find out what laptop he had, then search it online to find out the dimensions which were 356x265x36mm.
A lot of this is very vague as I used guess work mostly haha

Knit. Knit till you can't bear to knit anymore. Knit until your eyes bleed and you think you might have to chop off your hands because they just hurt so damn much. I used 8mm needles and normal double knit wool which I picked up for a £1 a ball, and didn't even use half the ball.
I forgot to take any pictures for this part but it was just a big rectangle of black and yellow wool. I had to guess the length and it turned out way too wide actually (as you'll see later). I wanted it to be 400mmx600mm and I think it turned out a lot bigger than 400mm but not quite 600mm. Well, it all worked out in the end!
Make a mock laptop! I thought it'd be helpful to have something physical, so I made this out of a cardboard box
Find some lining material. It has to be coloured on both sides (not like a cotton with one side printed and the other white, as it'll show through the wool). Luckily I had such a thing at home! This was shiny on one side and dull on the other, so I sewed the two dull sides together. Probably best to do this by machine, but I had to do it by hand.
Turn it the right side out! I did it so the dull side will be hidden in the wool, and the shiny side will be seen when you open it up.
Fold the wool in half, wrong side out, then use the laptop template to work out where you need to sew them together. Do so using wool, on both sides.
Drop the lining bag you've made into the wool back you've made, and sew the edges together. I used a lovely yellow wool to contrast. My stitching isn't very even but dammit, it was done by hand!
Unfortunately you can see the only two flaws in this picture - the hole, and the change in colour which I did the wrong side. This is why this side is the bottom. All the excess wool which I obviously couldn't cut off is on this side so it serves as padding.
Now all you need is a little latch!
Using 3mm needles, cast on 40 stitches and sew two rows before casting off.
Sew the strip in a loop onto the back. I chose to sew it on the lining so it's hidden, but that's a personal decision. Maybe if you're...better?...you could find some cool to way to incorporate it. But I couldn't.
Sew a big button on the front for the loop to go around. I used a lovely big heart button, as you can see!

Speaking of vagueness and guessing I don't even know what a gauge is..never bother with any of that when I'm knitting!

I can't get the hang of gauge Queenie, I get by okay! I just guessed what size needles to use as well, I figured that if they were fairly big it'd take less time but using my 15mm ones would be too big. That's the kind of thinking that got me through this!

Oh this was ages ago but he hated it =P he still mocks me for making him such a stupid present because he'd never use a laptop cover. And then I shout at him about how I sat for seven hours, knitting and watching episodes of Black Books over and over and almost went insane, and he feels bad.
