    A sewing needle.

  • How to make a beanie. Lilac Segment Hat - Step 2
    Step 2

this pattern is designed for anybody to do.....and is knitted totally in the round,so there's no seams involoved...
    RIGHT HERE WE GO...
    Cast on 90 stitches
place stitch marker at end of cast on.
    knit 10 rows
    purl 1 row
    knit 10 rows
    purl 1 row
stop and have a coffee or a cup of tea and RELAX

  • Step 3

Put your teacup of coffee mug away, relax and we shall do the next step, which is the increase.
    INCREASE.
knit 3 stitches and increase or make one stitch...
(you can do this by making a stitch out of the loop gap in between the last and the next stitch,or you can knit into the front of this stitch and then knit into the back...whatever works for you...)
do this increase to the end of the row(to the stitch marker)
which should leave you with 120 stitches...
AND BREATHE.....HAVE ANOTHER CUP OF COFFEE AND STEADY YOURSELF FOR THE NEXT BIT.........

  • How to make a beanie. Lilac Segment Hat - Step 4
    Step 4

    READY???THEN I SHALL BEGIN......
knit 15 rows in "the round"(it just means going round and round and round moving the stitchmarker from one needle to the next )
    and then;-
Purl one row.STOP,PUT DOWN YOUR KNITTING AND BREATHE........

  • How to make a beanie. Lilac Segment Hat - Step 5
    Step 5

READY FOR THE DECREASE???WELL HERE WE GO........
Knit 11 stitches and Knit 2 together(place needle through the next tweo stitches and knit as one)
do this to the end of the row.
    Knit one row
Knit 10 stitches, knit 2tog...do this to the end of the row
    knit one row
    Knit 9 stitches,knit 2 together
    knit one row
knit 8 stitches, knit 2 togther,do this to the end of the row
    knit one row
you might have to transfer onto double pointed needles at this point,so divide the stitches evenly onto the needles, remember keep one back to knit with, and carry on knitting in the round following the pattern.....
carry on this way of knitting until you get to;-
knit 1,knit two together to end of row
    knit one row
knit 2together,do this to end of row
cut yarnball away leaving a very long thread on your needles
your decreases should look something like this......

  • Step 6

take the long thread left from the cut off,and thread through a needle, and slip all of the stitches onto the sewing needle and stitch them securly so that the stitches don't come undone.(on the inside)
Turn the hat inside out and fold over the first section knitted(the first 10 rows, wrong side to wrong side, and whip stitch closed.this creates a stiffer brim which will give a gorgeous effect when worn.
cut off the excess thread, turn the hat right side out and WEAR IT!!!
HAVE A COFFE OR A CUP OF TEA,LOOK BACK AT WHAT YOU HAVE MADE AND GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK!!!!WELL DONE!!!!!

  • Step 7

This is an idea for different effects using yarns that you could try to get rid of all you extra bit of yarn you've got laying about.....
Chunky yarn has 16 twists(ply's) per thread...
now 2 ply has 2 threads per twist
4 ply(sport weight) has 4 threads per twist
Double knit(8 ply) has 8 threads per twist
Aran weight has 10 plys per twist
Worsted weight has 12 plys per twist
Chunky has 16 plys per twist
super chunky has 18-20 plys per twist....
so why not mix your plys to make a chunky weight hat???you could mix 4 threads of 4 ply all knitted together
or one double knit and two 4 plys all knitted together
or you could knit two double knits together,or an aran weight and a 4ply knitted together
    some of the effects gained from this idea could work with anything you are keen to knit,and would make a truly indiviual item to be worn;;;
I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS...AND IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS GIVE US A YELL AND I'LL BE HAPPY TO GIVE YOU A HAND.REMEMBER KNITTING IS SUPPOSED TO BE ENJOYED NOT STRESSED OVER!!!!!CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH MY PATTERN...I SAY GO FOR IT AND ENJOY!!!THANKS FOR READING....
