Letter Bottle Cap Magnets

  • Completed Project: Letter Bottle Cap Magnets Picture #1

Spell Your Name with Bottle Caps!

I use to be a Resident Assistant in the dorms at my college. One of our "jobs" was to make door decorations (i.e. Door Decs) for each of our residents with their name on it.
We had metal doors so many of us crafty RAs used magnets and made magnets for our residents.
It was multi-functional door decs!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Once you decide on a color for the caps and what stickers you want to use the hard part's over!

I used orange spray paint and black letters because that is my school colors.

  2. Step 2

Lay out the bottle caps on some newspaper or cardboard and evenly spray paint the caps.

    Let dry.

  3. Step 3

Once the caps are dry, stick one letter sticker on each cap to spell out your name, Sorority/Fraternity letters, the alphabet, silly words, etc.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Like the other bottle cap projects hot glue or super glue a small round magnet to the back of the caps.

    Let dry.

If not you'll get a weak hold and your caps will fall off the magnet.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    And you're done!

This was suppose to spell Chad, my boyfriend's name, but we lost the 'd' while moving.

I just painted my room and I was going to buy some new magnets for my board to match the colors, but this is a much better idea!
