These tasty bonbons work well in other colours too – try pink for raspberry bonbons or brown for chocolate truffles.

    Place the crystal sheer fabric on top of the yellow cotton fabric. Make the basic candy shape with both fabrics together using either the yo-yo maker or a circular paper template. Cut out a circle from a piece of paper and pin it to the fabric. Cut around the edge of the template.

    Turn the edge of the fabric over by about 0.25cm (1⁄8in) and work small, even running stitches around the hem.

    Pull the fabric into gathers and fasten off. The raw edge will turn inwards and there will be a small space at the centre for stuffing.

    Carefully stuff the finished candy shape with toy stuffing.

    Make as many lemon bonbons as you wish and decorate them with embroidery stitches and beads. Attach the beads using sewing cotton and a beading needle.I have used fly stitch and loose French knots on some of the candies, and only beads on others. Use just two or three strands of the embroidery thread for a delicate look.

    Place the candies in two petit four cases placed one inside the other.
