Pretty much a pedicure in a jar salt scrub that smells great and is a treat for your feet! Also a nice gift jar project!
There are a ton of scrub recipes out there on the internet, and I pretty much just took my favorite elements and made my own blend. For this one, I had a surplus of lavender essential oil and coconut oil, my two favs, so I figured I'd work them in. I did this project for one of my blogs, so if you want the more in depth directions and my ramblings, feel free to follow the "Please check out my website" link above.

    Step 1

GATHER ALL THE INGREDIENTS AND MATERIALS UP. This is the motley selection of items that I have. I have a shopping compulsion when it comes to ingredients... :-)

ADD SALT TO THE JAR. I chose to minimize the mess and clean up and just pour everything directly into the jar. (I cut out the bottom of a Styrofoam cup for a funnel.) I started with the salts. I used a blend of 1 cup Epsom, 1/4 cup Dead Sea Salts, and 1/2 a cup Celtic Sea Salt. Use whatever you like or have on hand.

ADD YOUR OILS. On the day I made this it was so hot and muggy the coconut oil was already melted, so I just poured enough to half fill the 1 cup, then topped it off with Jojoba. You can do all one or a mixture of any oils you prefer.

    ADD YOUR HERBS (OPTIONAL)

I found a new use for the coffee grinder! I just poured the lavender and peppermint into the grinder, pulsed it a few times and got a nice powder. I thought it was nicer than the whole pieces in the tub or foot bath afterwards.

ADD THE ESSENTIAL OILS AND VITAMIN E. Stir everything up well and add the last liquids. When I made this it was hot and HUMID so I ended up adding a little more salt at this point because it looked very liquidy. Eyeball it at this point and use your best judgement.

SEAL IT UP AND DECORATE THE JAR IF IT'S A GIFT.

I like to get the pre-made Mason Jar squares because I'm lazy and can't cut straight. If it's a gift I would normally put a label on it as well, with instructions.

I usually start out with a spoonful for each foot, and really work it in all over, even between the toes. I let the formula sit for a bit on my skin, then I put my feet in warm water and let them soak! SO NICE!
