Laminated Folder

  • Completed Project: Laminated Folder Picture #1

Cover your files with gorgeous pictures

I can't remember when I started doing it but all my folders are like this now! You might as well be interested in the outside if not the inside of your ringbinders, especially if it's something dull that has to be filed. Plus it's easier to locate the one you want if it's decorated prettily.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First, gather together a selection of interesting pictures. I save mine up with a theme in mind. Try the internet or even old books and magazines. Whenever you see a good picture you might use, cut it out and file it away for later. Here I've chosen black and white photos of Audrey Hepburn.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Now begin to arrange your pictures on top of your folder. Try not to leave any spaces between pictures. Rearrange them until it looks just right. Cut round some pictures (as I have here) to create an overlapping effect. Use text as well on top of pictures or to fill in gaps.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Once you're happy with the layout, stick pictures down with pritt stick.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Do the same to the back of your folder, and the inside covers if you like. I usually put something on the spine as well, including my name and the year.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Now cut out a sheet of laminate to fit the folder. It should be at least two squares larger than the folder all round. Cut 2x2 squares out of each corner and a slit above and below the spine of the folder.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Laminating! Do this s-l-o-w-l-y and at a time when you feel relaxed, because this makes or breaks the project. If you do it quickly or when feeling rattled, it all goes pear-shaped. And I should know. Use a long ruler to smooth down the laminate as you go. Lean it on a table and hang the part you have done over the edge.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

    Ta-da!
