I find the men in my life hard to craft for, so when I found an awesome old Kurt Cobain shirt at the thrift store, I knew I had to do something with it for my brother-in-law.
Choose a t-shirt with a great front you want to turn into a wall hanging.
Spread the shirt out until it's nice and smooth.
Using a rotary ruler and cutter if you have one, cut out the image on the front of the tee, leaving at least 1" around the image.
If you don't have a rotary cutter, use chalk and a regular ruler to draw around the image, leaving 1". Cut along the chalk with scissors.
Cut 1 1/2" strips of fabric for the border.
Sew to the top, bottom and sides, making sure to not stretch the t-shirt fabric.
If you hand stitch, make sure to use tight-even stitches.
Layer your quilt top, batting and back fabric.
Stitch around the image and around the inside of the border.

Add binding or finish off the edges with a serger or using another method of your choice.
Stitch plastic rings to the top corners of the wall hanging.

Add a label if desired.
