So first You gotta figure out what you're going to put on your shorts. It doesn't have to be written in Kanji, it could just be a cat, or skull and cross bones. I chose to do 'Love' written in Kanji.
So now, you can draw your design out. If you know how to make your own stencils, you could do that. I did it this way, because I'm cool like that.
Once you have it on paper (or whatever) you can cut it out. This part was probably the hardest part (for me.)
Once your design is cut out, you can lay it out on your shorts. When it's positioned the way you like it, you can tape/ glue it on. (Don't use anything like super glue because you will have to rip the paper off after.
Now for the messy part! Take your fabric paint and put a big glob of it on something disposable like a paper plate, piece of cardboard, etc.
Lay out your shorts and start painting over the stencil that you glued/ taped on. You can do as many layers as you like. I had to do three because my paint was very light.
Peel off the stencil! You can do this when wet or dry but I did it when wet, because I couldn't wait to see what it would look like!
Once you've peeled the stencil off, you can take some more fabric paint and go around the edges to make your design pop out more, but you don't have to.
Now, let this dry and they are ready to wear! I'd love to see your version of this project. Enjoy!
