I <3 this trick. In high school i wore all the spiked jewelry (still do sometimes) but my skin if really acidic.. so much so that i rust ALL of my jewelry. So i eventually decided to put clear nail polish on EVERYTHING. It really works!

My mother taught me this when I was little. Also, you can use it to keep a rip in hose from getting bigger! Happy

the green on your skin is actually a reaction to the base metals in the rings/jewelry. I have this reaction when I work with copper. Ie, I'm allergic to it. Most people are. It's nothing to worry about, it does go away with time, and limit exposure to the metal. (like painting it with clear nail polish.) Hope this helps

works perfectly!

just a hint - i find that dish soap gets that green tint off my fingers instantly. its like, grease-fighting soap i suppose and it is a little harsh but it's never cause me any issues! i wear multiple rings all day so you can imagine how my hands sometimes look ;)

This is also a really good solution for people with nickel allergies - I paint the back of watches, belt buckles, the back of cheap pendants.. all sorts. It's enough to stop the reaction on my skin Happy

I've actually been doing this for years! Thought I was being original. Happy Did you know you can actually use clear nail polish to fill in scratches on a CD or DVD? A friend of mine did this and it worked perfectly. I guess you would just need to make sure to apply it thin and evenly.

if you rub lemon on the green part of your skin it will take off some of the green, if not all

AGH! I WISH I'D HAD HEARD OF THIS SOONER!!
you see, I have this dilemma, I had a really nice brass ring that wraps around my finger and It had a really nice gold color to it
now it looks like tarnished silver.
but I could always get another one, cos it costs like 1$ and it was from those little coin machines that have 10239840239849302 rings that are almost all the same.

Moxie, the green is copper, same with the redish brown stuff.
Like the Statue of liberty, she was once brozeish brown, since she's made of copper but is now green from the air and natural weather elements.

Use rubbing alcohol on the green on your skin. I had green line on the back of my neck from a necklace and used rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball, the only weird thing was that the cotton ball turned red/rust colored. I was expecting to see green/black. It was odd.

That's clever, i always use nail polish on earings when they make my ears read, but i never thought of using it on rings. Perfect coz I have a ring that i loved and costs like $1 but and turns my finger red (not to mention it changed its color from silver to golden in a year..)
Thanks!

Is there anything it can't do?
