Royal Jester
 <  Image 1 of 7  >

I like clowns, mimes, and other cool things with a European or Latin background from the olden days. I decided to do a jester this year because I didn't wan't to be a mime again because it was to plain for me. This was the first costume I was going to make so I wasn't sure where to start. I didn't know what type of cloth to use so I looked around a local dollar store. I saw some pillow cases that were the right color (dark) and the strings that hung off the end reminded me of the arms of the jester hat. The bells were not supposed to be that big originally but the store ran out of smaller ones. I bout a net hand band to wear under the jester hat to keep my hair in place and keep that hat on.
For the bib thing I sewed the pillow case around a the collar that I cut off of a black shirt. For the skirt I just cut out triangles and sewed them on to black shorts, which I cut to make a skirt, then cut the ends to give it a jagged look. I stuffed the arms of the hat with notebook paper(lol). For the cuffs I made the top layer bigger than the bottom layer. At the ends of the skirt and bib thing i sewed on the gold beads.
Under the stuff I made I wore a black long sleeve wiith a black tube top over, two leggings, and my "Peter Pan" boots with socks.
