  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Take your iPod or mp3 player and draw out a template on to a piece of paper. You want your template to be the length of your iPod twice, plus allowance for twice the thickness of your iPod and allowance for a flap. You will want it to be the width of your iPod plus allowance for twice the thickness.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Cut out your template and draw the shape out on to felt. Cut this felt shape out.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Place your iPod in the middle of the felt.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Fold up the bottom of the felt so that it covers most of the front of the iPod.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Pin the felt in to place. You will want this to be nice and tight.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Remove the iPod and tidy up the pins so that they are all straight.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Slip the iPod back in to make sure it fits snug. Be careful not to scratch it with the pins.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Slip the iPod out again and cut off any excess felt at the sides.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

Sew up the sides of the cosy and remove the pins.

  10. Step 10

    Step 10

Snip the edges of the flap so that they are rounded and then turn the cosy inside out.

  11. Step 11

    Step 11

Cut out a rectangle (the size of your iPod's screen), a large circle (the size of the click wheel) and a smaller circle (the size of the click wheel button) out of white felt.

  12. Step 12

    Step 12

Stitch the rectangle, for the screen, and the large circle in place.

  13. Step 13

    Step 13

Stitch the smaller circle in to the middle of the larger one.

  14. Step 14

    Step 14

Stitch on a popper and you're all done.

Yeah, I had considered embroidering the buttons on but Tom said he just wanted it plain, it was his present. But yeah, it's a good idea.

cute idea! i like it b/c you can tell where the buttons are so you can control the ipod through the cozy. it might be cute if you used fabric paint or something to indicate the buttons. :)

You are an honor for humanity, Cat Morley!! Your inventions, crafts and decorations really show what a genius you are. You are a prodigy!!

I'd like to make a fashionable homemade PSP pouch that I could hand around my body, but I can't think anything up. This iPod pouch is quite cool, I'd like to design one for my PSP, if I thought a desing up which I could hang on my neck.

Your designs inspired me. Thank you!

So cute! The only thing is that you have to make a hole for the earphones if you want to listen to your ipod when it is in the cozy.
