Uncommon Cards
The netting covering clementine boxes is fabriclike and fun to work with.

  • Step 1

    Hold the card open and flat, face up.

  • Step 2

    Measure and cut a square piece of netting that is slightly smaller than the card.

  • Step 3

    Fold the square in half and cut a heart shape from the center, being sure to leave some netting at the top and bottom so the square remains as one piece.

  • Step 4

    Open the square and place in the center of the card.

  • Step 5

    Sew a straight line from the top center of the netting, over the netting, through the empty heart space, and over the netting again to the bottom of the netting.

  • Step 6

    Using the presser foot of the sewing machine as a guide, sew additional lines to the right of the first line, until the right side is attached to the card.

  • Step 7

    Repeat, using the presser foot of the sewing machine as a guide, sewing additional lines to the left of the first line, until the left side is attached to the card.

  • Step 8

    Trim the ends of any loose threads on the front and inside of the card.
