  • Step 1

Turn off that computer! The light will send false messages to your brain, tricking your self into thinking it's morning.
However, if your a little scardy cat (like me) the feel free to turn on a little night light~ In my experience, being able to see around me helps me from worrying and getting all wired up from my own imagination.

  • Step 2

Make sure your room is tidy. Some people say the condition of the area your in could affect your inner state.
Say if your in a messy room, you may bbegin to feel disorginized and out oof order. Don't let your room cconpromise your sleep. When your room is orginized, there are no aanxious clutters and you begin to feel more neat or relaxed.

  • Step 3

Make sure YOUR clean. I can't stand the idea of being sweaty and oily while trying to fall asleep. Also, please don't "forget" to brush your teeth. Just imagen that nasty, dirty mouth taste. BLEH!! Take a nice warm bath, brush, floss, and rinse and change into some fresh inviting pajamas.

  • Step 4

WARNING: Make sure you use the restroom before getting comfortable in your bed... It really sucks.

  • Step 5

Get something to drink! Preferably warm such as milk or chamomile tea.
I'm getting sleepy just thinking about it <(-o-<)

  • Step 6

If you consider yourself an anxious person, I would get a source of light noise to ease your racing mind. It could be a CD of light music (I would avoid heavy metal when trying to relax... unless that's your idea of relaxing XD).
It could also be the television. Please turn the Sleep setting on at your choice of time depending on how fast you fall asleep. (Conserve energy =3)

  • Step 7

Use some aroma therapy. I recommend scented oils instead of candles (you wouldn't want an open flame on unattended).

  • Step 8

Do not stress about going to sleep! Stressing to fall asleep will NEVER help. It's not the end of the world if you cant fall asleep, so don't stay up calculating how much sleep you may or may not get. Just try to focus of how you feel and get comfy (That is still helping you rest)
However, if you truely cannot fall asleep... don't just lay there! They're many people who have sleep problems so your never alone. You could read a book or whatever. =P

I used to use a CD of static when I had problems at uni - it blocks out all outside noise and relaxes your mind fantastically.
Unfortunately my CD corrupted through over use, so I finally got forcefully sent to the docs by my work colleague for a course of sleeping tablets!
