  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First of all, pick a fabric that matches your hood and cut 4 3" triangles.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Now cut 2 slightly smaller triangles out of a contrasting fabric.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Use your sewing machine, or needle and thread to sew the small triangle on to one of the bigger triangles.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Place the second big triangle on top of the this one, with the smaller triangle facing the inside. Pin this in place.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Sew the two bigger triangles together, leaving a small gap at the bottom.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Fold inside out and stuff with a small amount of stuffing to give the ear shape.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Fold the rough edges under and sew along the bottom of the ear.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

    Make two of these.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

Pin your ears in the position they look best on the hood. Take a needle and thread, go sit in front of the TV and stitch the ears in place. Meow!

A friend of mine did something similar with a hoodie for Burning Man (www.burningman.com) a few years ago. She took a pink hoodie with pockets, cut the pockets off, sewed the pocket holes up, and stitched the pockets to the hood to make floppy mouse-looking ears. It was so adorable! You could also replace the pockets with another fabric. The idea of using the pockets for the ears is so that the fabric would match perfectly.

so awesome!
I've been wanting to make a similar hoodie, but with bunny ears... any suggestions on how to make them?

Yeah, basically follow the same steps, but make a bunny shaped ear template and use white fabric instead of black.

I have a perfect sweater for this! it is my brother's old sweatshirt so it fits me but i don't really care about it that much. He might not like ears on his old sweatshirt too much, but who says that'll stop me?
=3
